About Us

 Who We Are
Midnight Squadron is a club based out of central Maryland promoting self-expression and a happier lifestyle through the hobby of kiting.
 Why We Fly At Night
  • You don't get sunburn

  • It's generally quieter and cooler

  • That's when we finally get time to get out

  • Fewer crowds on the beach/soccer players on the field

  • You can convince innocent bystanders that you are flying a piece of string

  • Lights on kites look cool (and might be mistaken for UFOs)

Calendar

New Schedule of Events

We've scheduled Fullish Moon Kite Flights, open flights, and rokkaku fighting! See the dates on our events page.

Fullish moon fly

Our monthly night fly. Held at 9 PM at Capitol College in Laurel, Maryland on the Saturday of each month closest to the full moon. E-mail during the week to confirm, or subscribe to Squadron News.

Open fly/rokkaku fighting

We hold an open kite fly at 2 PM on the second Saturday of every month (with the occasional deviation from schedule). We often fight rokkaku, too, leading to several trophies at festivals.

  • We fly at either Capitol College in Laurel, MD or the East Branch Library in Columbia, MD.

Occasionally we change locations. E-mail during the week to confirm, or subscribe to Squadron News.

  • Bring any kite you like. 2-line kiters may have to move to a more open field to avoid hitting anyone else.
  • Schedule of open 'Second Saturday' flights
