Events

Here are a list of the kiting events where you can fly with us. Everyone is welcome!

By Type of Event By Date

Fullish Moon Kite Fly

We love to fly at night, and have gotten permission to do so at a local school so long as we're quiet and polite. We usually fly on the Saturday closest to the full moon. Sometimes we'll fly for special astronomical events, too.

All Fullish Moon Kite Flights are at Capitol College's field at 9 PM.

Second Saturday Kite Fly

OK, sometimes it's nice to fly during the day, too.

All Second Saturday flights are at 2 PM and will usually be at Capitol College or behind the East Columbia Library.

Kite Festivals

Several great kite festivals take flight in the Midnight Squadron area.

We'll be attending the festival all Memorial Day Weekend.

Keep an eye peeled for the illuminated kite fly Friday night at 9 PM (illuminated??).

(Also, when booking rooms, remember that "Wildwood" is bordered by two other towns, North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, which do not allow kite-flying on their beaches.)

Interested in Kite Fighting?

What's that!? Fighting, did you say? Absolutely. Don't worry, it's all good clean fun. Teams of kite flyers take to the field in a sort of aerial demolition derby, trying to be the last kite still aloft. Midnight Squadron is looking for people of all ages and abilities to join us in training and competition. For more details, e-mail info@midnightsquadron.org. You'll have to be in the Washington, DC area to fly with us in person, but we can also steer you toward a local club if you are not near us.
